The first thing that is noticeable in both games is the atmosphere: it is so brilliantly haunting and for me that stems primarily from its amazing sound design. We crave information and understanding so it’s natural that we want answers. Who are you? Where are you? What are we doing? The mystery and ambiguity that surrounds these games naturally keeps you on your toes and it is a great thing since it drives you. I am going to be looking at both games but with emphasis on the sequel as I feel some of its sequences make up the best of the series.Įach game starts off in the same way: you are instantly dropped in without any context and that immediately makes you cautious. Now, rather than coming at you with a traditional review, I want to talk about something Little Nightmares as a franchise does so incredibly well, and that is how it crafts intensity and fear. More creepy locations, more twisted characters, more fun puzzles and more of that ambiguous world that we got a glimpse of in the original. It takes what made the first game so great and just gives you more. I recently finished Little Nightmares 2 and I have to say: what a fantastic game.
